Good article. Clearly, the assault on higher ed free speech originated from the same lobbying forces that ponied up several hundred million dollars to influence US foreign (and, in the case of free speech on campuses, domestic) policy.

Single issue, wealthy and powerful lobbying groups are capable of extraordinary damage. We are witnessing this in horrifying detail on a daily basis. At least those of us who read uncensored news from overseas.
