Gambling logos and ads seen up to every 13 seconds during big sports games in US

For me it really taints the sporting event experience.

Some truck company advertises at me, maybe I shouldn't buy a truck, but if I give them my money there's a fair exchange and I get a truck.

Gambling companies just want suckers with poor impulse control, and they provide nothing positive in return.

The insane amount of advertising in general is about 75% of the reason that I dislike sporting events (even from when I was a kid) and don't attend or watch them.

duskwuff•5mo ago
It's not even just ad segments or sponsor logos anymore. Some sports networks will have representatives from betting agencies in their pre-game shows to talk about the odds.

Same here. I was reading how gambling sponsors took over the Premier League. Over half (11 of 20 I believe) have their logo on the front of match day kits; they will be banned next year.

I still find solace in National team competitions (and watching in person), the Olympics may have their sponsors plastered all over the city/region they take place in and on tv or streaming, but the team kits and playing fields are still mostly off-limits/highly regulated.

Based on my recent sampling, I'm unsure what's on-screen the other 12 out of 13 seconds. /s

More seriously... this shows just how insanely profitable online gambling is. Sports programming is generally the most expensive advertising to buy.
