This "article" has as much substance as the tweets it criticizes. No citations, just links to other uncited tweets and posts. Basically "trust me, bro".

The crux of the article, emphasis mine. "If you spent your Wednesday absorbing thousands of posts on Bluesky—as I did, for whatever reason—it would be difficult to make an honest case that the platform’s users were celebrating en masse. There were indeed a lot of people doing that. Just not close to a majority, let alone 'every post.'"

I have found the vast majority of the coverage around his death to be extremely one sided. His supporters demand that he be treated with the same humanity that he denied others. Well known internet personalities on the right are claiming that only the left engages in hateful rhetoric and violence, ignoring the string of recent violent attacks committed against democratic politicians this year, and have already decided that the unidentified perpetrator is aligned with the left and are calling for blood. The news coverage of his legacy focuses on his rise to fame and his role on college campuses and within the Trump administration while also largely ignoring the things he called for like the execution of gay people (and that all executions should also be done publicly for children to see) or that black people are inferior and that Jewish people secretly control everything behind the scenes. One anchor on MSNBC stated when talking about him that "hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions" which he was promptly fired for despite other anchors having said far worse things about those on the left in the past with no real consequences. We've reached a point where people on the left of the aisle are expected to act perfect lest they be doxxed by Lauren Loomer and have their lives upended while the right are broadly given carte blanche around their actions and yet we are also somehow all expected to turn down the temperature and get along. This whole situation feels untenable and I don't see a clear path towards peace given the current administration.

Low-credibility gaslighting by the same rag whose current front page story is focused on blaming Kirk for his own death.

Do you know how everyone with grey matter knows that this "don't believe your lying eyes" attempt to fade-the-heat is typically self-interested and non-factual, aside from the fact that they can see the justifications and celebrations?

They know because the celebrations follow the same pattern as the very prominent justifications of and celebrations over the assassination of Brian Thompson.

Whose assassin was raised up as a folk hero of the Left, to the point of being the subject of a sympathetic play titled Luigi: the Musical.
