I would have been happy with a new iPhone mini. I don’t feel like my iPhone 16 needs to be thinner, but I would like it to be smaller.

I think there are a group of people who said they want Mini as in smaller phone, but what they actually want without knowing is a lighter phone. And Air may fit those needs. I guess we will know once it is out on the market.

I actually think there may be a future with iPhone Air Mini. We have Silicon Carbon Battery that has 2x capacity coming out by the end of the year on Smartphone. We have Tendem OLED with better chemistry coming out that improves 30% display efficiency. We have A20 and A16 with backside power distribution to further improve SoC, Modem and Network Chip efficiency. In a realistic scenario, Apple could reduce energy usage by 30% while doubling battery capacity by 100% by 2030. You would get near 3x battery life compared to today's iPhone Air.

I wouldn't be surprised if the iPhone Air Mini coming out in 2028 - 2030 will have higher battery life than current iPhone Air. Although I say Air Mini it will still likely be 5.8" or 5.9".

I want a smaller phone because I feel like I sometimes drop mine when it’s more than 5.9” when I stretch my thumb across it. Also I want less in my pockets.
