Just what the original white paper wanted!

“What is needed is an electronic payment system dependent on support and adoption of centralized governments and banks."

bigbadfeline•4mo ago
What "original paper"? Written by whom exactly and with what credentials? I mean, at least a REAL name, an address and a place of work?

Or do you offer to the world to follow the prophecies of a profit with a fake name and no identity?

lawlessone•4mo ago
i assume they're referring to "satoshi" that cryptos creator who seemed to want to separate money and its control from government?

I wouldn't call him a prophet nor even agree with his views on money, but as the creator of that particular crypto his likely opinion on this would seem relevant

bigbadfeline•4mo ago
> who seemed to want to separate money and its control from government? ... I wouldn't call him a prophet nor even agree with his views on money,

I wouldn't agree either, and that, together with the sheer impossibility of asking him about important aspects of his views is enough to render him irrelevant.

If he wanted to be relevant, he'd be here answering questions...

rfarley04•4mo ago
That's a modified quote from Satoshi's "White paper" because obviously I was joking that this was what the original crypto folks had in mind.
bigbadfeline•4mo ago
I was not talking about your jokes but about the person you implicitly referenced and his ideas, that's clear from my comments.

You are right about joking however - given that person's short appearance as an anonymous actor with who knows what conflicts of interest, the only sane thing to do is joke about him and his ideas.

npoc•4mo ago
The paper and its author is completely irrelevant. It was only required to convey an idea, and that idea has been understood, refined and elaborated much further since then. Bitcoin "is what it is".

This is funny and troubling. Is this like tagging?
