>Neither athlete has competed at elite level since World Athletics introduced rules requiring DSD individuals to suppress their testosterone levels.
Am i reading this right people with developmental differences are required to artificially suppress what could be argued is their bodies natural hormones?
Should we do the same in mens sports, so we can have all men the same level playing field.
edit because i have been rate limited for the first time today but i was going to add this:
I'm wondering where will they draw on the line on this?
Something that started off ostensibly because there is a belief that there are lots of men transitioning to compete in women's sports has expanded to include people with genetic abnormalities that make them produce more testosterone

If we have a binary split in official world records, how do you propose we normalise the population of candidates into it?
I do recreational sport for pleasure, I have no part to play in competitive sport, and I cannot speak to how it operates and how participants feel about this. I just observe a long standing societal binary split for record keeping exists.
Maybe it's time has passed? What will fastest/strongest mean any more? "Masters" records have complex bands as do paralymics. Even these categorised systems have problems at national representative level.

This kind of gets to why do women sports even exist in the first place?

I'm beginning to think what the future will offer is three classes of sports and rest rooms: male, female, and "open". Male sports and facilities will be for males only (per whatever agreed-upon tests), female sports and facilities will be for females only (per whatever agreed-upon tests), and the "other" sports and facilities will be open to anyone not qualifying for the first two categories (but will end up dominated by testosterone anyways). It might not be a perfect solution, but at least competitors in the non-open categories would be certain about who they're up against.
