Well, I've heard from from Indian immigrants (to the US) that today's India wouldn't have existed without the British example of bureaucracy. So maybe that, coupled with the caste system and a high reproductive rate, jeopordize the status quo?
With all the money pouring into automation (oh, it's called AI now, sorry) maybe US demand for H1Bs would have dropped off anyways?
I know it's obvious but it seems like a worthwhile discussion.

If you bothered to actually read the article, the Indian government said something obvious, that the way this policy is being enacted is going to disrupt families, and thus have humanitarian consequences.
What exactly is the Indian government supposed to do about the US governments "cruelty is the point" tactics of making unclear rules over a weekend that cause legal immigrants who happen to be outside the country, to drop everything to fly back?
