Does the BBC not employ an editor, or has NATO suddenly become something other than an acronym? Seeing "Nato" everywhere is very grating.

As for the article, I'll wait for the action. Trump is so unreliable it's better to just ignore everything he says. If we are now willing to help UA fight for victory I expect Congress to stop chickenfeeding the weapons and start dumping them wholesale. If there aren't enough, increase production or stop sending them elsewhere.

Australia's government have a style guide with the example of "Anzac".

It's common in British media to spell acronyms that way: Nato, Scuba, etc.
dekhn•4mo ago
It's mostly used when the acronym is pronounced like a word (Nasa). They don't write "Bbc" because it's pronounced "bee bee cee" or "beeb"
jfengel•4mo ago
They won't capitalize "scuba", since it's now just a regular word.

But for proper nouns, they distinguish "acronyms" (like Nasa) from "intialisms" (like FBI). An acronym is pronounced like a word, so they treat that word as a proper noun (capital first letter, others lower case).

That can be informative about pronunciation. The BBC writes the World Health Organization as WHO, not Who.

Building on his campaign bragging that the war will be over in 24 hours when he's elected, Trump stroked Putin for 8 mos, until his tongue went numb. Putin, being a master negotiator and practiced in the art of receiving pleasure from many at once, made a total fool of Trump, denied Trump a happy ending and jilted him. In keeping with his theme of gross gub'ment efficiency, Trump's gambit now is to funnel billions of other people's money to Zel in exchange for the personal services of Zel's tongue and escalate war against his ex-BFF. Expect Zel to help Trump ceremoniously spluge all over Europe once the checks clear. This is all typical cucked Republican grift. Musk will shortly return to Trump's harem as a tech eunuch.
