Ask HN: Is .space TLD Down?

18•ustad•4mo ago

Comments

verzali•4mo ago
nope, works for me (in EU)
ustad•4mo ago
Some domains are working but many are not. first hit on DDG: stuffin.space
mAritz•4mo ago
Doesn't work for me either right now. Google apps is also failing to resolve it.
ustad•4mo ago
Wonder why some are working. I am searching DDG with “site:.space”
eerikkivistik•4mo ago
Down for us as well.
ustad•4mo ago
Email seems to be affected as well :(
eerikkivistik•4mo ago
Whois isn't even showing the domains and name servers. Not to mention DNS records. Its like the domains don't exist anymore.
ustad•4mo ago
Is there a “status page” for TLDs?
eerikkivistik•4mo ago
No idea. Never actually seen a failure like this in practise.
HiryuSingh•4mo ago
The .space zone seems to have gone from 973093 domains to 447730
ustad•4mo ago
Where did you get that number?
HiryuSingh•4mo ago
CentralNIC

https://support.centralnicreseller.com/hc/en-gb/articles/917...

ge0rg3e•4mo ago
I contacted spaceship.com support, and they said there's a problem with this TLD.
ustad•4mo ago
Thanks for the info!
ustad•4mo ago
@dang or anyone Can someone push this up since it’s becoming quite serious and I don’t know what to do.
eerikkivistik•4mo ago
Agreed, let's upvote this thread higher to get some eyes on this.
iamt0n•4mo ago
Namecheap also reported it: https://www.namecheap.com/status-updates/issue-with-space-do...
ustad•4mo ago
Thanks - at least I’m not going mad.
jatone•4mo ago
indeed, I was just on their support prior to that getting posted. lol
iamt0n•4mo ago
update: my site is back online now.
mdaspaceguy2•4mo ago
Manually repropagate, I just added the NS records again (removed, saved, re-added) and it worked.
jatone•4mo ago
also did this, hasnt resolved yet.
ubergesundheit•4mo ago
My .space domains seem to work again
eerikkivistik•4mo ago
It seems to ping-pong back and forth. Our monitoring is basically spamming us with DNS down, DNS up every 5 minutes or so.
simonv3•4mo ago
So we resolved this by switching away from Cloudflare handling our DNS to revert it back to our domain service provider (Namecheap). This made our site available again.

Now we've switched it back to Cloudflare and still looks up.

So something in changing it seems to have jiggled some bits somewhere.

/ turn it on and off again / I guess

hunkins•4mo ago
Yup, appears to be an turn off turn on fix. Very frustrating though for such a critical piece of infrastructure
HiryuSingh•4mo ago
Looks like the zone file is back to normal size now.
ge0rg3e•4mo ago
It works now
CacheMe0utside•4mo ago
Likely something at the root level went bananas.
