It is bad itself that liberals turned their back on freedom of speech. Many people in other countries are quite jealous of the US constitution. It isn't perfect either, but what was proposed politically in recent years was infinitely worse, be it culturally or legislatively.

Even worse than turning their backs on essential civil liberties was that it was allegedly done in the name of minorities. This should have raised alarms in the few that didn't stop using their mental facilities that something is heading in the wrong direction.

"Freedom of speech hurts minorities" was the essence of their statements. Of course any political opposition will benefit from that. Like stealing candy from a child. Although I expect better from kids than from some groups with an allegedly liberal flag.

10 years ago people would have laughed at conservatives championing freedom of speech.
