A Patrick Lawrence essay describes "voluntary immaturity" - the inability to think solo and form opinions without guidance, which seems to complement your discussion.

Isn't independently and critically thinkingthe essence of writing? Warning, this essay may harbor some political opinions you may not agree with. But the philosophical discussion of the essence of reason and mature thinking, including Kant's perspectives, are worth reading.
