Show HN: Home Information – open-source spatial data management

https://github.com/cassandra/home-information
2•tcassandra•4mo ago
I built Home Information because I was tired of hunting through scattered files, apps, and drawers for home-related information. I am a very visual person, so spatially organizing the data on a floor plan seemed obvious.

I also use some home automation systems, which is part of the overall information I need to manage. These home automation systems are splintered systems, offer poor UIs and are entirely device-centric. They combine to just make life more complicated. The Home Information system is meant to unify all the information in one place and have one interface to manage it all.

The app works today, with integrations for Home Assistant and ZoneMinder. I'm looking for early adopters who can help identify what's working well, what needs improvement and what directions to take it in.

It is built with Django + JavaScript, has a one-line Docker install.

Looking for feedback from homeowners, developers, and home automation enthusiasts.
