There were some Asian-made PC cameras that old which connected to the 25-pin traditional parallel printer port for better data rates than a serial COM port would have. Way before USB was invented.
Document scanners also connected to the parallel port originally too, but the cam was only 320x240 and black & white only.
Low framerates too but it didn't take up much bandwidth.
