In principle I like it, though it's a little bit too abstract. What's missing for me are some contours of the city first, let's say rivers, major highways, grabbed from whichever source, and overlaid, dimmed. Second: "I can haz metric units, plz?" ;->
Third: Truly global reach like https://globe.adsb.fi for instance would be great, OFC.
edit: Regarding units, switchable between nautical(knots), imperial(miles), metric, maybe?

Yeah the contours are a missing factor. I’ll have to find a good source that doesn’t totally kill the vibe.
On your second point you can click the “planes” for some data.
On the global reach did you expand the search radius and try airports from different continents?
