Please let the robots have this one. Self-driving cars are way safer than humans

No. There is a human with their hand on where and where that system cannot go. No one can be trusted with it. Entire tech industry needs to wake up to who their real beneficiaries are and quit while they are ahead before they unleash something they'll all live to regret.

A cattle chute is a humane way to get cows to the slaughter, but that make it appealing nor recommendable for people to enter.

The freedoms and risks of personal vehicles distribute with the usage base, allowing a sense of both autonomy and a commons under God's laws. This makes the risk morally and ethically comprehensible and mitigateble.

The term robot implies an autonomous alien device beholden to unknown laws, which is incomprehensible.

The argument that the robot is in fact subject to known laws dictated by megalomaniacal greedy tech bros does nothing to build trust in the devices.

You can't even trust your TV or refrigerator not to exploit you on their behalf.

There is no possible way anyone should trust safety statistics coming from self driving car companies. Not after years and years of cooked up stats, lies, exaggerations, and massive overhyping.
