Yes, for the past few hundred years :) [0]. But more seriously, strikes are much more common in Canada than in the US (and it's been this way for as long as I can remember).

Not really. This is a pretty common structure in Canada [1], and only a few of the organizations in that list are known for striking. It's very province-dependent though—Quebec is stereotypically associated with frequent striking, while it's fairly rare in Alberta.
