This is going to be sold as a bad thing. But, consumer/customer led "peak coal" is a good thing, not a bad thing. I am not for a minute denying there will be short term economic shocks, employment included. And, the people concerned are extremely vested in lobbying their way to perpetual profit in this, and there are land restitution problems in classic "privatize the profits, socialise the losses" out there.

But if you believe the evidence to AGW, this is what we need to happen: we need to turn down coal, and oil, and gas. we need to cap off the fugitive emissions.
