Show HN: SnapSort – Automatically sort and organize your photos with AI

https://www.snapsort.dev/
2•sumit-paul•3h ago
Hey HN,

I built SnapSort, a cross-platform app that uses Google’s Gemini to automatically sort and categorize your photos.

Why I built it: Ever taken a screenshot to send to a friend… and then forgotten about it? Or downloaded a photo and never moved it from Downloads? Your Photos, Desktop, and Downloads folders slowly turn into chaos.

I was tired of cluttered folders filled with screenshots from the last three years. I wanted something that automates photo organization using AI.

What it does: - Sorts photos into categories like portraits, food, nature, or documents using Gemini - Let's you copy or move organized images into folders automatically - Works on macOS (Intel & ARM), Windows, and Linux - Pro version adds background monitoring, custom categories, and move operations - One-time license, lifetime updates & no subscription

You bring your own API key; SnapSort never stores or sends your images anywhere else. The analysis happens through your key, and all results stay on your device.

If you have a messy Pictures folder, SnapSort can help you bring order in minutes. Download here: https://snapsort.dev

Would love feedback on: - Ease of setup (especially Gemini API key) - Categorization accuracy - Features you’d want next (e.g., local embeddings, auto-tagging, duplicates handling)

Thanks for checking it out!

— Sumit
