I read Children of Time and got me thinking that the Fermi paradox might not be so much of a paradox. In ~200 years we went from harnessing electricity for the first time to being at the verge of AGI. What are the grounds then to assume that biological intelligence dominates the cosmos? If there is any intelligence out there it is most likely silicon based. And if so, a suitable planet for biological intelligence != suitable planet for silicon intelligence. Even being interested in Earth for their resources does not make sense. Try to pump water out of the gravity field or any metal. The natural source for resources are asteroids where there is no gravity to overcome. And in terms of energy, the Sun is not a good source, its phase is unstable. There are way better and more stable sources with narrowed spectrums in starts with in a different phase.
