Can someone make the totalitarian fountain of this government stop?

There's been a significant backlash against this and yet they're just extending it at every turn.

> an official government response ... says: "This is not a card but a new digital identity that will be available for free..."

I would like to think this is to be a digital means to /verify existing identity/.

But no, "a new digital identity"...

What can possibly go wrong?

It's clever but they need to wrap it a bit more with "think about children" wrapper and appeal to parents instincts using rhetoric like:

- make your kids online activity safe, monitor and control activity

- protect your kids against dangerous predators lurking online

With this strategy it will work flawlessly and without too much opposition.
