I wonder if heart rate monitoring using a smart watch, coupled with location data, would help. I've worked in some cubical and laboratory environments that would clearly stress out employees, especially when audio and visual alarms would go off. Most seemed to react calmly, but I'll bet there was a stress response. Likewise, in clinical labs, it is common to have critical equipment rigged with alarms when temperatures or air flows deviate from the norm. It can get very noisy! But long term staff undergo "alarm fatigue" and eventually stop noticing.
