He showed Spider-Man to prove we don’t have strong action heroes anymore. Why not The Rock? The Mountain? Thor?
Arnold largely created the market for strong action heroes, and it’s been more and more the trend ever since. Look and old Superman and Batman vs modern versions. Starting out, people thought Arnold’s size would hold him back from getting roles. Now it’s the bigger the better. Most actors looking to play a super hero need to get a trainer and hit the gym hard.
He also talked about them not being as violent, and then showed John Wick. Keanu Reeves might not be huge, but those movies are extremely violent, and he’s 61. He’s not going to pack on 40lbs of muscle for a role, and that also can look a bit awkward in a suit.
