Tell HN: OpenAI removed budget limits from their API, you can only get warnings

This is PSA for anyone using OpenAI's API: a few months ago, they removed hard budget limits. As per this thread [0] they now only offer email reminders if you reach some thresholds.

This means that if you're on a high usage tier [1] and one of your OpenAI API key leaks, you can't set an upper bound on the spending (the highest tier is 200k/month).

Previously, you could set up a hard limit per project which was very useful for development work or not losing sleep at night over leaking API keys.
