The Chinese have a workable plan to defeat western, free market capitalism. And basically all they really have to do in order to make it work is keep corruption in check.

They have already succeeded. The economy of the USA has now been changed to be less "free market" and more authoritarian --- like theirs.

Only worse. Instead of a central committee steering the economy, we have a central person deciding who you can trade with and how much it will cost. Government interference has been normalized. There is nothing "free market" about it.

Its hard to say what they have to do. They aren't telling anyone what is happening within their system. And people within the system aren't sure either. If you aren't allowed to see anything because its constantly brushed under the carpet, how do you know how many flaws there are, how many are getting fixed, leave alone how effective the fixes are? And talking to Chinese people offline who have to actually deal with issues there, it's easy to see lot of anxiety. You can build the Great Wall and point at how beautiful it is. But we already know mega projects did not save the Ming Dynasty.
