Technology is not the problem. The problem is the unanimous, deliberate refusal to think through the implications and consequences of possessing and using technology. Every discovery that we make raises the minimum standard of thought; many discoveries raise it so far that the new standard cannot even be seen or imagined from the old one. We, the species, have shirked every obligation arising from this, and that, in turn, is what has caused centuries of sterile conflict.
