A notable characteristic of the Trump 2.0 administration is its near universal disregard for protocol. The use of US government assets - like the White House social accounts - for partisan political messaging is clearly damaging to the long term credibility of those accounts, damage which will last long after this administration is gone. It's a crazy thing to observe

But it's not banned, because Bluesky the organization has been learning. The account should be blocked by people who don't want to see it anyway, people should have control over their what they see on their own accounts.

But the point about the inhabitants of Bluesky is that that's not enough. You could block people back on twitter. Without actually being able to silence Trumpland from speaking to anyone else, it's driving them insane. Their political lives completely revolve around him, most are not interested in any unifying political issue other than his existence.

Hopefully this will cause one of them to create a ATProtocol zone that's actually not under control of Bluesky central, and really federate the thing just to perform their disapproval of the management (again.) Then we'd have to thank Trump for decentralizing Bluesky.

These numbers are also a reminder for me of how tiny that place is. It's losing active users every single week (https://bsky.jazco.dev/stats), although the posters look a little more stable than the likers and followers. But I wonder what caused the weird follower bump during the week starting Sunday, July 27th? It seems like a real thing, not a glitch, because it wasn't wiped away and back to trend for at least another month after that. Did somebody famous join?

I wouldn't even know the account existed if it weren't for the other people talking about it.
