80% response rate in the headline sounds flashy you open the article and see it's 8 out of 10 patients in an uncontrolled, first-in-human pilot with only a 15-day follow-up. Interesting tech though- gold nanorods + near-infrared light for “targeted hyperthermia” could be genuinely interesting, but still very early proof of concept and not a cancer cure. Promising mechanism though! Hopefully they can spin this into more funding and produce data on some long term outcomes.
