A new kind of story chain social network

1•ayyoub_ea•2h ago
I’ve been thinking about how social media today is mostly built around individual creators — everyone posts in their own corner. But what if content could connect like chains?

Imagine you post a short video or idea, and anyone can join your chain by adding their own part — continuing the story, the challenge, or the vibe. Chains can grow in unexpected directions, mixing creativity from all kinds of people. You could start a dance chain, a travel chain, a meme chain, or even a storytelling chain where each user adds one scene.

The idea is that visibility shouldn’t depend only on followers. If your addition to a popular chain is good, people can find you through that chain — so smaller creators can grow next to bigger ones. It’s a bit like TikTok remixes, but more open and narrative — everything connected through these public chains.

I’m exploring how to make it global from day one, and maybe use AI tools to help users remix or extend chains in creative ways. I’m curious what you think: does this kind of network sound interesting, or too chaotic?

The only name worse than "chain" for a social network feature would be "shackle". Both evoke the notion of slavery. You definitely don't want that.

But who am I to say anything, right? We have things that are reminiscent of "open your eye":

And we also have "linkedin" which is pretty much the chain idea.

So I guess anything goes nowadays.
