...Has that ever not been the case?

It doesn’t seem all bad to me. I feel like gaming got into this pattern of pumping titles with $$$ mainly going to marketing and fidelity but not fun.

Meanwhile, Expedition 33 comes out from a 30 person team and kicks the industries ass.

I’m hoping the result of all this is that we see smaller games crop up again that actually focus on fun vs selling us entry XXXVII in an existing franchise.

kridsdale1•1h ago
Hollywood and book publishing and game production have all shown that “fun” is no more possible to be an output of budget than “going viral” is something that can just be selected for in a marketing campaign.

You’ve got to have The Right Stuff. Talent. And then freedom from administrators constraining the expression.

I assume this infuriates administrators and budget-controllers who have no talent.
