I see this attempt to cozy-fy/cutsi-fy in software as well. The cute characters on the settings page with privacy (as in, your lack of), emails about pracicing 'mindfulness' when there's been lay offs, or prehaps well intentioned but misplaced confetti and happy language when booking an oncologist's appointment. Basically, a LinkedIn approach to serious topics.
I think we should think twice about adding fake happiness and positivity, and how they could help to normalise a rather depressing status-quo.
