I was on team "real programmers don't use these toys" at the time. I was doing a lot of low-level stuff at that time, a lot of which assembler was a necessity. I still remember when I was able to write a driver in C! That changed things!
My attitude completely changed when Visual C++ shipped. I'll never forget firing up the Application Wizard and having a full-blown Windows application in seconds! You know, the kind that we spent months learning how to do from Petzold?
