Show HN: The Slow AI Commons – here's why it might fail

https://github.com/aNobodyfrom76/slow-ai-commons
2•anobodyfrom76•3mo ago
Skeptics especially welcome. I should be working on my product today. Instead, I'm writing this. For centuries, brilliant people built systems that replaced them. Weavers built mills. Engineers built assembly lines. Coders built algorithms. Each time, the wealth flowed upward and the builders were discarded. Now we're training AI on our own code to automate ourselves — and we don't even own the systems we're building. I don't have all the answers. I hardly have any. But I know many people want to coordinate around this and don't know how. So here's an attempt: pool our latent resources (idle compute, unused networks, human brilliance) into a commons of intelligence owned by everyone, controlled by no one. Not the fastest AI. The fairest. Maybe it fails. Maybe I'm naive. But I'd rather fail trying than succeed at making someone else richer while the world burns.
