Normally, I would expect an attorney to be suspended for a first offense of lying with the intent to mislead a Judge. However there is much leeway in the punishment administered and when a DOJ attorney lies to a US District Court Judge or Magistrate at the behest of the DOJ itself, disbarment should be the penalty even for a first offense (unless the attorney provides the ABA with testimony that leads to disbarment proceedings against higher ups - in that event the attorney should still be suspended of course).
