How close are we to solid state batteries for electric vehicles?

So sad to read these completely misleading articles. Sure the author knows his science (I guess?), but to write anything about EV batteries while barely mentioning the world's biggest battery maker, or the world's largest car maker BYD, which also has it's own massive battery business, is simply sloppy. Not to mention omitting Chery, the Chinese giant which is apparently just about to ship its first solid state battery powered vehicle. Oh well.
