FOMO is driving AI investment - everyone is behaving as though the one who comes up with the "good" or "true" AI first will win everything, and 2nd place and beyond will get wiped-out. Typically, what that means is leadership is unable to articulate the value and assess the actual impact to customers. In this case Meta is building AI for AI's sake and can't articulate how their AI will enhance their existing product offerings or even create new offerings. That's risky - that tells me they haven't thought through these things and gambling with billions of dollars and not having a clear idea of the payoff should they "win." I too would be cautious about investing in that venture.
