WhatsApp Web Shows "Download WhatsApp for Mac" Screen

When opening WhatsApp Web in Chrome on macOS, the sidebar and interface still load, but the chat area is replaced with a “Download WhatsApp for Mac” prompt.

It’s unclear if this is a bug or a gradual move away from web access, but it effectively prevents using chats in the browser.

It is down also in Firefox and Chrome

Unclear if this is actually intended or just a temporary malfunction.

It feels like they might be pushing users to the Mac app, but there’s no official communication about it yet.

That’s why I posted it here on HN, hoping someone knows more.
