Ask HN: Is there anything an individual can do to traceback spam calls?

2•op7•3mo ago
According to research I found it is possible for my cellular carrier to traceback the calls using the ITG. However it seems that this mechanism isn’t available to private individuals, just voice service providers. Has anyone had luck with getting their phone company to initiate tracebacks against scam/spam callers on their behalf and disclose their findings, using strongly worded letters, FCC complaints, criminal complaints with LEA help, civil legal motion, or otherwise?

In North America, dialing *57 files a report with your phone company and law enforcement. A judge can access the caller's telephone number and billing information.
