Dems warned of "hell to pay" if they cut "weak" post-election shutdown deal

Those Dems giving warnings in the Axios article are those in safe blue seats.

The wins last night (especially those in VA) are significant, but the underlying cause for the massive wins in VA and NJ were economic in nature based on exit polling.

If the primary intention is to bring back a return of checks and balances, then concentrating on why we won by the margins we did in VA* and NJ is much more important than the election in NY, and that may require some compromises which while unpalatable are worth it for flipping the House and some gubernatorial elections in 2026.

* A good friend of mine from my previous career worked on the Spanberger campaign, and they did not expect to win by such margins - the expected margins was expected to be close (within 1-2%).

This is typical leopard ate their faces, so the voters changed their minds. The voters that switched expected someone else to get hurt, but it was they who got hurt.
