I recently sat in yet another “alignment” call and started wondering — if we add up everyone’s time, what’s the actual cost of this meeting for a company?

So I did a quick back-of-the-envelope calculation using public data from Levels.fyi for Amazon.

The result surprised me: a single 1-hour meeting with a few senior people can easily cost €700 — and a recurring weekly call? Over €30,000 per year.

I always wanted to invent a thing where as people pile in to the meeting they punch in their hourly rate and cost of the meeting was prominently displayed for all eyes to see. figured this would cut down meeting times by 80% :)

I also always compared how much trouble (in most places) you have to go through to purchase some equipment (say for $1k) but you can with a click of a button schedule a meeting that will cost 3x that and no one bats an eye
