I don't quite understand the hoopla about this "grade inflation" stuff. In fact, my gut tells me that when you have the "best" students in the world and only 40% are getting As then maybe you are grading too hard or your faculty is not teaching well enough.
Aren't these kids mostly "the best" from their high schools, kids who are valedictorians, run their own businesses, 3 sport athletes, or music prodigies with a high gpa already?
Why would we not expect these kids would be getting As at college?
