I built a tool that lets you ask questions about all previous World Cups! The dataset includes info on teams, players, matches, groups, and tournaments. You can just ask questions in plain English and get responses sourced by data.

The dataset was curated by Fjelstul and is available at https://github.com/jfjelstul/worldcup

To play with it login and click "Select a data source" and choose "FIFA World Cup" (we're experimenting with a few others too).

It's early and probably a bit buggy. I'd appreciate feedback on the UX, bugs, and what questions you'd want it to handle better. Happy to share details on data sources, parsing, and how I translate queries under the hood.

If you want to kick the tires, try prompts like: "How did Argentina perform vs France across their last three World Cups?" "Show me Messi's assists in knockout rounds (2010–2022, extra time included)" "Have any goalkeepers scored in the world cup?"

Or choose one of the generated questions that show up when you select the dataset.
