This flies in the face of so many of my beliefs about Buffett and Berkshire, but obviously these are new days since he's now or soon will not be "the guy" in charge (at least technically-speaking).
Specifically, and these beliefs aren't based on an encyclopedic knowledge of Berkshire's investments, I think of Buffett as a value investor and obviously the market, and Google in particular, is now near its all-time high; he's eschewed tech except for Apple and that had more parallels to his investments in Coke ("everyone" drinks it (or used to) and "everyone" uses an iPhone); he doesn't tend to buy businesses he doesn't understand well (of course everyone knows Google for search, but just when there's an assault on traditional search he buys into the search company? So that means he thinks AI is/is going to be revolutionary, and he actually believes Google is destined to command a significant market share of whatever nebulous thing AI will be a decade from now?). Perplexing.
Watch this be the canary in the coal mine because Buffett passed the reigns and the new guy couldn't help but do something dumb day 1 with their boatloads of cash. Maybe it's not dumb of course! The stock is up materially since they likely invested so I guess I'm the dumb one.
