Show HN: A tool to explore new music by detailed genres (powered by Every Noise)

https://thisisnewmusic.com
1•saint-james-fr•2h ago
I built this over the past two years because I felt like most music platforms kept me inside a tiny algorithmic bubble. Spotify would recommend the same ~20 genres, even though thousands exist.

This Is New Music lets you explore weekly new releases by very detailed genres (based on Glenn McDonald’s Every Noise At Once data). It’s designed for people who like discovering niche subgenres or emerging artists and be informed of new releases each week. It's free of course.

Features: - Browse weekly releases by genre back to 2022 - Listen to short previews instantly - Save favorites (free account) - Open tracks directly on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, YouTube, etc. - “Random genre” for serendipity - Simple interface focused on fast music discovery

This started as a personal project because I wanted a better way to find new sounds outside algorithmic recommendations. I’ve ended up discovering a ton of great unknown artists through it, so I figured others might find it useful.

Would love feedback, especially on UX, speed, missing genres, or ways to make exploration more intuitive.
