Easier on the Eyes

HackerNews.ca aggregates and displays the latest tech news from Hacker News, including details like the source, age, and score of each article, with options for reading and discussion. The site also includes sponsored content and is updated every five minutes.

I'm addicted to hackernews, but found it difficult to read on the phone and in the evenings... Threw this together a few years ago and just recently added a new theme.

Supports dark mode! lol

The sponsors don't actually pay anything, I just put them in as placeholders. One of them is an affiliate link. Hasn't made a cent. lol

Provide feedback. h t t p s:/ / h a c k e r n e w s . c a

Why on earth you put spaces in url???

Clickable URL https://hackernews.ca/

For users with adblocker installed (isn't that every hacker?) the stories don't load. "Error loading stories: ReferenceError: getInlineAd is not defined"

The ads are an unnecessary distraction.

ThrowawayR2•1h ago
The domain has been banned by the HN moderators. You can see the submitter's previous attempt to post with the domain that is [dead]: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45957957 The link with the spaces is what they're doing to bypass the ban.
hackernewscdn•1h ago
Nah, posted it with the url first time and it would take you straight to the site. Once I realized the content wasn't visible, I posted it without the link. The spaces between it was to make the content unique so it didn't get blocked for multiple submissions.

But ya, I would have thought the same thing.

hackernewscdn•1h ago
Well, the theme idea is actually for a 'real' project. So I get it, it's repurposed, but for what I want it for, it works...

I will have to test to see if I can detect an ad blocker and just not send it to avoid the error. Which adblocker should I test with?
