I’m an early-stage founder and trying to understand what actually worked for others during early fundraising.

Did investors discover you organically, or did you have to do all the outreach manually (cold emails, short pitch decks, demo calls, etc.)?

What steps made the biggest difference for you?

From turning up at shows, getting in the industry press, to finding 'brokers' to aggressively market us to appropriate potential investors.

Thanks! The part about brokers is interesting. Did that actually work for you, and was it worth it? How did you choose the right brokers and were they paid upfront or success-based?

Sometimes it worked, the definitionally last time it very much did not! Payment schemes were nogotiated to keep them on the ball, and I think that a little thing called Covid undermined their decent efforts that last time...
