I wonder if the author has fully considered the implications of this statement.
Maybe an AI can,
with 80% or so success,
mimic the act of creating a complex system.
It's not successfully recreating the intellectual work needed to make a working complex system.
In other words, AI is nothing more than an expensive,
environmentally disastrous,
and error-prone variation of the kind of automation that's already possible with deterministic tools.
