Tokyo court orders Cloudflare to pay over $3.2M. over manga piracy sites

The publishers who sued Cloudflare all operate major digital manga platforms that depend on the same infrastructure they're attacking. If this ruling makes CDN providers skittish about serving Japanese content (fearing liability accusations), or if Cloudflare restricts services in Japan, legitimate manga sites suffer the same performance degradation as pirate sites. Meanwhile, truly anonymous piracy networks (torrents, decentralized systems) remain unaffected by CDN lawsuits. The publishers won a battle that may make their own digital transformation more expensive and less effective.
