Why doesn't someone just send the Epstein files to WikiLeaks?

14•aniken•2mo ago
Maybe an ignorant question but just wondering why someone hasn’t already done this if they are concerned about people not properly being held accountable.

If you didn't Snowden your way to Russia or North Korea within the hour, they would lynch you like nothing that has been seen before in American politics. FBI agents, Mossad sleeper-cells and private security would have you looking like that John Wick movie poster at the Aeroflot terminal: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/unpopular-opinion-guns
cpburns2009•2mo ago
Ironically I think the US government inadvertently saved Snowden by canceling his passport and leaving him stranded in Moscow. He wouldn't have been as safe in Ecuador.

yes, Legend only comes once
FrankWilhoit•2mo ago
Put yourself in the place of a hypothetical someone who could do that. It is not a simple calculation. Its purpose would be to minimize collateral damage, but it would cause a lot of collateral damage. It will happen: it is already too late, and it will get much later, but it will happen.
throwawayffffas•2mo ago
I am 100% speculating but here is my theory.

High impact leaks to WikiLeaks were intelligence operation with a clear political goal in mind.

The content of the "Epstein files" does not align with that goal, or with the planning of the governments behind the previous leaks.

Hence no leaks.

Perhaps such a high percentage of the US population and the workforce that has access to the info are ok with having a president that fuck kids.

Why would Putin set one asset against another?
zlonmask•2mo ago
Legend only comes once, they never permit once more
farseer•2mo ago
1. Only a small subset of people have access to them.

2. The hype around the files means they are secure/well guarded. Such kind of act is expected unlike lets say the Snowden files.

3. Retribution would be swift, even if you don't believe in Epstein killing himself.

4. The adversary list may involve a certain beloved foreign government. If Epstein was an intelligence asset as alleged. This increases the risk further for the leaker dying an unnatural death.

tacostakohashi•2mo ago
Possibly because that would be illegal, and "someone" has decided that they don't want to end up on prison (or equivalent) for a long time.

Just a thought.
