Show HN: Lucen – AI dating coach for over-thinkers (like me)

https://lucen.app
1•omarfarooq360•2mo ago
Hi HN,

I can overthink dating (probably just like many of you) and thought that I can't be the only person over-thinking texts. So I decided to build Lucen - an AI relationship coach that analyzes your texts to give you advice. Goal to help people with questions like:

- “Is this person actually into me or just bored?” - “Am I doing too much?” - “Did I mess things up with that text?”

What Lucen does

You upload transcript, screenshots or screen recoding of messages and Lucen: - Gives you a report with interest, compatibility, red/green flags. - Allow you to ask questions about your conversations. - View and select your messages to ask about them.

How it works (high level)

Ingestion – You upload screenshots or recording. We OCR and reconstruct message sequences (sender, timestamps, etc.).

Conversation modeling – We build a structured representation: who said what, when, to whom, and in what order.

LLM reasoning – Analyze the texts, generate report with evidence and seed chat featue.

Tech-wise: React Native/Expo (web + iOS), Firebase (Auth/Firestore), RevenueCat for IAP, and OpenAI on the analysis side, plus analytics via PostHog.

Biggest challenge: Parsing texts from a phone screen-recording. Users can scroll at different speeds.

What I’m trying to do differently: Goal is to bridge the gap between the two extremes in dating related to cover the weird state before labels, when you have a lot of confusion and overthinking. - (Upper funnel of dating) AI wingman apps to automate dating apps e.g. PlugAI, RizzGPT. - (Apps targeted at couples) Couple apps: Quiz apps, couples therapy, etc.

Status & pricing

iOS app + web are live.

Still iterating on onboarding, the analysis UX, and pricing. There is a paid subscription, but if the price is a blocker and you’re willing to give me thoughtful feedback, I’m happy to sort out access codes / discounts.

What I’d love feedback on from HN

- UX/product - Is the upload flow too clunky? - Accuracy - Pricing - What’s missing?

Monetization If you’re in a situationship, talking to someone new, or just curious, you can try it here:

https://lucen.app

I’ll be in the comments all day responding and would really appreciate any feedback, skepticism, or brutal honesty from this crowd.
