Any time I see a new language being promoted, what I really need to see is proof why I should use it. Not a list of features, not Hello World.
I wish there were an ISO-standard specification of about 10 non-trivial programming problems, each with a best-of-show implementation in all the popular languages, so a newly proposed language could demo why their 10 solutions might be considered better than other languages. For example:
1. A compiler for a small language.
2. A text editor.
3. An assembler.
4. A rendering engine for a subset of HTML.
5. A regex processor.
6. A ray tracer.
7. An online store.
8. A video editor.
9. A game.
10. A payroll system.
If I could see Beef's solution to those 10 problems, side-by-side with other languages' solutions, that might compel me to seriously consider Beef.
